“Peace march” alongside front line of World War I

CSR

3 May 2017 | Leo Vercauteren, a retired docker at PSA, walked about 4000km along the entire front line of the First World War. He completed this ‘peace march’ on his own to collect money for different charities with the focus on children.

He started his trip in Nieuwpoort and walked his last kilometers in Turkey. Leo walked for 180 days and crossed more than 10 countries throughout the whole journey. He collected €3000 for charity organizations Unicef Child Soldiers and Children’s Happiness.

The city council of Nieuwpoort received and honored Leo for his remarkable achievement. The ceremony was held at the Westfront Visitors Centre, where he started his journey at the end of May. In the context of CSR, PSA also sponsored €1000 for Leo’s journey. All adventures and stories that crossed Leo’s path can be relived and read on his travel blog: vercauterenleo.reislogger.nl.
