Alongside the community
At PSA, we firmly believe in the social role we have to play within our local communities. We provide financial and/or logistical support to a variety of social projects, be they large or small. Over the years, we have built mutually beneficial long-term relationships, championing projects close to the hearts of our people.
Numerous projects and organizations are dear to us. Since 2017, we chose to really make a difference through a single social goal: supporting and helping children and youngsters in precarious conditions.
Together, we can make a difference!
CSR Highlights
30 July 2024 - In the last two weeks of June, we once again joined forces for our annual ‘Moving for Charity’. The goal? 150,000 minutes of exercise to raise money for a good cause.
5 February 2024 - Our family comprises 3,900 employees. Each of them is a skilled expert, working tirelessly every day to ensure the smooth transportation of thousands of containers or general cargo to their final destinations. Yet, there are also many employees who actively contribute to those in need in their personal lives. As a company, we don't want to overlook this aspect.
1 February 2024 - On Monday, January 29, Johan Van Daele (CEO of MPET) handed over a check of 3,200 euros to the non-profit organization Kinderkankerfonds in Ghent. The same amount was donated to the Me To You Foundation at the end of last year. Both contributions originated from the proceeds of the sale of old iron collected at the MPET terminal in 2022.
15 December 2023 - On Thursday, December 14, our container terminals once again participated in Truck Driver Day, an initiative by Febetra, TLV, and UPTR. At PSA | MPET | ATS, it was the third consecutive time we joined this globally celebrated event.
Truck drivers contribute to the economy by ensuring goods arrive at their destinations on time. It's a demanding job with long hours on the road and considerable time away from home, and we at PSA | MPET | ATS understand this well.
7 December 2023 - On Saturday, December 2, PSA, MPET, and ATS once again rolled up their sleeves for nature. On that day, we organized our annual tree planting event, where our employees and their family members, together with Natuurpunt, planted a total of 2,000 trees. This initiative is part of our commitment to create one hectare of forest each year over a four-year period in the Schopbos in Putte, near Mechelen.
31 October 2023 - What could a social economy enterprise and a steel and general cargo handling specialist possibly have in common? In the case of Stroom maatwerk and PSA Breakbulk, the answer is an enduring and prosperous partnership that has thrived for more than 20 years. For over two decades, the dedicated employees of Stroom maatwerk have been an integral part of PSA Breakbulk's terminal. This remarkable collaboration will be celebrated at an anniversary event on October 31st.
22 June 2023 - Maarten Van der Straeten, a Supply Chain Management student at the Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp, won the PSA Award 2023 on 22 June. He was able to convince both the jury and the public with his undergraduate thesis 'Closing problems'. For the second year in a row, the award ceremony took place aboard the Flandria boat 'Festina Lente'.
14 June 2023 - On Sunday 11 June, the leading Antwerp terminal operator MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) presented a cheque worth €5,600 to the Belgian non-profit HOPE Benefit. This happened during the charity organisation’s Kids and Family Sunday at the summer bar ‘Bar Brial’ in Mortsel. HOPE Benefit aims to give people with an illness or any kind of setback a new purpose in life. The donation fits perfectly with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that MPET aims to demonstrate every day.
26 April 2023 | Today the technical service provider Antwerp Terminal Services (ATS) led an interactive workshop at the MPET container terminal in the port of Antwerp, to show 15 youngsters what it means to work as an engineer or technician in this highly mechanized sector. This hands-on event is part of the collaborative Repair Teens project that encourages youngsters between the ages of 12 and 14 to study STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subjects and seek careers in related sectors.
24 April 2023 | On Sunday April 23rd, 135 colleagues from PSA Belgium took part in the 37th edition of the popular annual running event, the Antwerp 10 Miles.
The Antwerp 10 Miles, which takes the more than 37,000 participants through Antwerp’s beautiful city centre, was a great opportunity for our PSA team to not only break personal records but also Be There and Play with their colleagues. And this year, they got to play in the rain.
