MPET OPEN AROUND THE CLOCK DURING WEEKDAYS

20 March 2017 | Trucks coming to load or unload containers at MPET will also be able to call at night as of 20 March 2017. Thanks to the extended working hours, MPET quay 1742 will be open non-stop from 05:30h on Monday morning to 05:30h on Saturday morning.

 

By operating around the clock, MPET seeks to increase its capacity and spread out its handling volumes. MPET handles around 2,600 trucks on a daily basis. Analysis has shown that the handling time tends to get longer from 11:00h onwards, with a peak at 17:00h. After 19:00h, the number of trucks drops considerably, and so calling later in the day yields significant time savings. Permitting deliveries and collections at night also will further extend this quiet period.

 

Also Medrepair (S11) will adopt the extended opening hours as of 1 April. Since the Customs desk will not be open at night, at least for the timebeing, it is very important for the necessary administrative arrangements for containers to be settled, such as pre-registration and clearance.
